Agent Ransack has been around for a decade or more and it’s fast, reliable, stable and so feature rich once you’ve used it you might wonder how you ever managed without it.
From the website:
Agent Ransack is an award winning file searching tool from Mythicsoft. It is a freeware ‘lite’ version of FileLocator Pro and offers a comprehensive set of features to find information in even the most obscure file formats.
FileLocator Lite and Agent Ransack are built from the exact same source code and therefore offer exactly the same functionality. The only differences are cosmetic, ie different names and icons.
Why the two different versions? Agent Ransack is the original name and widely known and liked by many people. However, the name Agent Ransack appears to be a bit too ‘aggressive’ for many corporations hence the gentler sounding FileLocator Lite.
kadaitcha.cx likes Mythicsoft’s sense of humour.
Agent Ransack by David Vest of Mythicsoft is highly recommended as a search alternative. If you need convincing that Microsoft’s answer to desktop search is laughable, substandard junk then perhaps you ought to read kadaitcha.cx’s Windows 7 Performance Tweak #4. In summary, Microsoft search does not always find what you want, returns a plethora of useless references and is a major retrograde step in terms of productivity. Heck, kadaitcha.cx thinks so little of Windows’ desktop Search that to find things on our machines we’d all be better off searching the Internet using that other Microsoft monstrosity, Bling, or whatever they call it.
If you already know, or even just slightly suspect, that Windows 7′s search is rubbish then go straight to Mythicsoft and download Agent Ransack by clicking here.
